WP1: Collecting the information for bridging the gap
between SRI and EU citizens

Due date: 31/03/2023  - Task leader: IsZEB Report on current status of SRI in EU and in the member states (EN) D1.1 intends to provide a detailed recording of the SRI status at the European level, but also at the Member State level. The current situation of the SRI at the level of the European Commission, its degree of development at the stage where the project will be implemented and relevant activities in the Member States with regard to the development and introduction of national SRIs will be identified. Smart² establishes an observatory for the evolution of SRI in Europe. The purpose will be twofold: to record the developments in the field of SRI at both EU and national levels plus to adapt the content and data of the Smart² tool to the changing context. Report on existing public financing tools for promotion of buildings smartness (EN)

D1.4 records the current status in relation to funds and tools that could potentially finance the promotion of SRI in the Member States by considering SRI in the definition of eligibility criteria alongside energy efficiency. D1.4 also analyzes investment schemes that are currently in place and could be considered for replication. This overview analysis results in the definition of good funding practices, which are included as integral dissemination material of the project in both the SRI Virtual Training Centre and the SRI Days. Integration roadmap of SRI into EPC (EN)

D2.1 provides an in-depth analysis of Energy Performance Certificates (EPCs) and Smart Readiness Indicators (SRIs) within the framework of building energy performance assessment. It explores the alignment between these two tools, identifies challenges, discusses data requirements, and suggests enhancements for better integration. Additionally, it examines the use of Industry Foundation Classes (IFC) for SRI calculations and offers recommendations to improve the effectiveness of EPCs and SRIs in assessing building energy efficiency.Download PDF

Due date: 30/09/2023  - Task leader: Brainbox Adoption of the SRI context to AI practices (EN) Artificial intelligence technologies hold great promise in the operation, use and continuous commissioning of buildings. In this report, sector leader and Smart² partner Brainbox AI will lead the consortium through a documentation of strategies for the use of AI in the SRI assessment in methods A, B and C (e.g. in both static and dynamic states). AI technologies will be put to use and assessed that the Italian pilot of Piazza Loreto.

Data transmission security analysis for the purpose of assessment of smart buildings (EN)

Deliverable 2.3 presents the results of Task 2.3. The purpose of Task 2.3 is to develop the appropriate framework for the assessment of transmitted data from smart sensors and smart buildings and the assessment of this data towards delivering the SRI. Issues related to interoperability protocols, big data management, cybersecurity, data integrity, data anonymization and user privacy will be analyzed and presented. Moreover, this task will examine the SRI's information security risks, considering the threats, vulnerabilities, and impacts. The design of a coherent and comprehensive suite of information security controls and other forms of risk treatment will also be presented. Explicit focus will be given on securing not only the infrastructure but also in making sure that all user privacy concerns and rights are considered in all stages. Finally, existing legislation on the protection of personal data will be followed.

SRI integration roadmap to digital building logbooks (EN)

D2.4 explores the integration of Digital Building Logbooks (DBLs) and Smart Readiness Indicators (SRIs) within the context of European building regulations. It examines how these tools can be linked through data structures and processes, particularly within the proposed EU DBL Semantic Model. The report outlines the current state of DBL and SRI frameworks, investigates methods for incorporating SRI data into DBLs, and discusses potential pathways for enhancing their interoperability. The findings highlight the need for further development to fully integrate these systems, with recommendations for future work and updates planned as the project progresses.

Report on Smart² Architecture (English)

Deliverable 3.1 will present the results of Task 3.1 and specifically the Software Requirement Specifications (SRS) and the architecture of the Smart2 tool. The software requirements specification (SRS) and accomplishments of the Smart² application will be drafted, the functionalities, the use cases based on the target market, the use of the tool, and the platforms to be employed will be identified. An initial overview of competing applications will also be implemented. Issues of interoperability of the application with other computer literacy will be examined as well.

Functionable Smart² backend and frontend (EN)

Deliverable 3.2 provides the frontend and backend of the Smart² platform. This public deliverable includes a user-friendly and well-crafted software user manual, along with worked examples (white paper) that describe the main operations of the Smart² platform. The white paper content includes general instructions, an overview of the tool's organization and operation, guidance on assistance and problem reporting, installation and setup procedures, first-time user instructions, error handling and recovery, as well as a quick reference guide.

D3.3 includes a description of all activities focused on the rigorous testing of the tool under various real-world scenarios through alpha and beta testers. It details all technical issues identified and resolved during the testing process. The testing is primarily carried out by beta testers who are not part of the development team to evaluate and review the prototype and beta version.

The deliverable includes a comparative assessment of the needs for energy and SRI audits and defines the required components for the SRI audit procedure. This sets the groundwork for developing a standardized, step-by-step process for conducting on-site SRI audits.
